The Ian Parry Scholarship is a free international photographic award for documentary & visual photojournalism students and freelance photographers of the age of 24 years and under. Now is your chance to get your work in front of a team of international judges and join the family of illustrious past winners.
We have two major awards: The Award for Achievement and the Award for Potential.
The Scholarship is open to: • All full-time students including recently graduating students and BA, MA and MFA students. • Professional photographers who are 24 years old or younger.
We ask you send us a folder of a 12 image portfolio and a proposal of a story you would like to shoot. Please include research and a budget with your plan.
The awards will be judged by our international panel, Patron Sir Don McCullin and Trustees.
Prizes:
Your work will be exhibited in London as part of a large gallery exhibition and will appear in the Sunday Times Magazine, who is our media sponsor.
Our Main Sponsor, The Incite Project, will add work from the winners to their prestigious collection and invite them to visit the collection for a private view.
Each winner will receive $3,500 towards their chosen project.
The winner of the Award for Potential will receive a year-long personal Mentorship. This year’s Mentor is the highly respected photographer and former Ian Parry winner - Simon Roberts.
Canon, provides equipment to the winners.
World Press Photo, automatically accepts the winner of the Achievement Award into its final list of nominees for Joop Swart Masterclass in Amsterdam.
Eligibility:
Each year we hold an international photographic competition for young photographers who are either attending a full-time photographic course or are under 24.
Copyrights & Usage Rights:
Each winner retains all copyright and ownership of images resulting from the Ian Parry Scholarship, including the right to sell, print, or distribute images as she/he sees fit.
By accepting to participate in the Ian Parry Scholarship, however, the photographer agrees to grant Ian Parry Scholarship a worldwide, non-exclusive right to display the images included in their photo essay on the Ian Parry Scholarship website.
The winner also grants the Ian Parry Scholarship the right to use the images from the photo essay in printed materials or galleries – solely for the purpose of promoting our activities.
The imagery produced by the winner may be licensed (and sold) to others by him/her, with the understanding and explicit agreement that the images in question may also be used by the Ian Parry Scholarship in the manner mentioned above.
