International Garden Photographer of the Year known as (IGPOTY) is the world’s most prestigious photography competition dedicated to plant life and gardens.

The word ‘Garden’ in the title is used liberally as a garden may be traditional or small, private and green. However depending on where you live your garden very well may be the tundra or the outback.

Either way with the competition now its 13th year and having been associated with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew since its launch is proof of its importance.

There are 9 main categories to choose from, each gives winning entrants the chance to be awarded the overall winning prize of £7,500 and the title ‘International Garden Photographer of the Year’.

There is also a top portfolio prize of £2,000 and Gold, Silver and Bronze medals to be awarded by The Royal Photographic Society.

Eligibility:

The competition is open to everyone, anywhere in the world. Images do not have to be taken in a specified year. There is no distinction drawn between professional and amateur photographers.

Copyrights & Usage Rights:

By entering any IGPOTY competition entrants will retain full copyright of their photograph(s).

For the avoidance of doubt only awarded images will be promoted/publicised. Use of awarded photographs is permitted by International Garden Photographer of the Year, or any of its partners or sponsors only to promote the competition and exhibition. (Note that a book, posters, cards, or a calendar are seen as legitimate ways of promoting the contest and defraying costs).
