Lugano Award 2021

A photo contest dedicated to reportage photography.

Submit

The traditional photo contest dedicated to reportage photography is reconfirmed. To participate in the contest it will be necessary to send a series consisting of 6 to 12 photographs (it is possible to submit more series), by going to the "Competition" section of the luganoaward.com web page.

The jury is composed by: Elizabeth Krist (National Geographic photo editor for over 20 years), Pascal Maitre (National Geographic photographer), Marco Pinna (photo editor of National Geographic Italy).

Prizes:

Overall winner “LuganoAward”
Among the winners of the categories "Reportage and documentary" and "Wildlife and nature" and "COVID-19", an overall winner will be chosen who will receive, in addition to the category prize, also the "LuganoAward 2020" which consists of CHF 3000.- in cash offered by the City of Lugano. No prize, unless otherwise defined, is paid in cash.

Other prizes
- unique prize for the winner of each category: CHF 750 in cash
- certificate
- two-night stay in a hotel (single room with breakfast) in Lugano (Switzerland) for the award ceremony
- photo exhibition of the project in Lugano (Switzerland)
- presence in the catalog
- media publication
- publication on LuganoPhotoDays channels (website, gallery, social, …)

Eligibility:

The contest is open to all photographers (professional and non-professional) who have reached the age of 18 on the closing date of the contest, irrespective of sex, nationality or residence. Employees of LuganoPhotoDays and of the sponsors, the members of the jury, as well as relatives up to second-degree and partners are not permitted to enter the contest.

Copyrights & Usage Rights:

The participant declares to be the sole and exclusive owner of the uploaded photographs and to detain, if necessary, the lawful releases from the photographed subjects and is solely responsible in the event of a claim by the photographed subject or, in general, by third parties.

The photographs remain the exclusive property of the author who authorises the promoter to use, reproduce and publish them by any means, free of charge (with the exception of commercial purposes) and without time limit; in particular, but not as a limiting factor, on the promoter’s website, social network, printed material (flyer, posters, catalogues, …), etc.. The authors are not entitled to economic compensation for the publication of the photographs on magazines, newspapers, website and/or social networks. The prints from the photographs used for the exhibitions will remain the property of the promoter.
