Every year, as part of the Bird and Nature Festival, an international photo competition dedicated to wildbird is organized. A selection of the best photos will be presented at the Crotoy during the event, which will take place from 21 to 29 April 2018.

5 categories are dedicated to photographers aged over 18

Bird in its environment
The photographs submitted in this category must describe the close relationship between the bird and its natural environment, include it in its familiar landscape (examples: diving circle at the foot of a waterfall, tree-cutting peak, mimicry of the camouflaged nightjar in dead leaves…)

Fashion design
This category must present the bird as a work of art of Nature: posture or attitude emphasizing the grace and elegance of the subject, putting forward aesthetic or morphological details (it can range from a tight plan part of the body to a macro picture of the feathers). The aesthetics of the image and the creativity of the photographer will be the essential criteria of the Jury.

Water games
Photographers must submit photos of birds seized during aquatic activities (immersion, swimming, fishing, bathing, watering, etc …), or play with this element to highlight there subject.

Bird in danger
Photos submitted in this category should illustrate a species on the IUCN Global Red List, regardless of its degree of threat.

Miniseries
The 3 images in this category should have an explicit thread and tell a story. A unit of subject, species, attitude, season, color or place is required.

1 specific category is dedicated to photographers aged 15 to 17 years old (legal age as of November 30th 2017 at midnight), with only one subject: Wildbird.
