Established in 2019, the Doug Pensinger Photography Fund supports emerging and early-career sports photographers with grants and mentorships.

Applications open in March of each year, and entries are judged by the professional photographers and editors on the DPPF's Advisory Board.

The DPPF supports emerging and early-career sports photographers. Candidates should demonstrate serious pursuit of a sports photography career. Photographers with more than 3 years’ sustained professional experience are considered beyond the scope of the DPPF’s programs.

Prizes:

In 2020, the DPPF supported ten emerging photographers with grants totaling $22,000. Three of those grantees also received mentorships with professional photographer's on the DPPF's Advisory Board.

Prize structure for 2021 will be available on the DPPF website in late fall 2020.

Eligibility:

The DPPF is committed to promoting inclusivity and diversity and to providing free merit-based access to its programs. There is no application fee and the process is open to all aspiring sports photographers. Candidates with more than 3 years’ sustained professional experience are considered beyond the scope of the DPPF’s programs.

Copyrights & Usage Rights:

Applicants will retain all copyright and ownership of their images.

Winners agree to allow the DPPF to use their names, likenesses, and submitted images, free of charge, for the purposes of promoting its nonprofit programs.
