The Emergentes Portfolio Reviews for 2024 are now open for submissions. Encontros da Imagem is excited to announce that our annual portfolio reviews — with a jury of internationally and nationally acclaimed professionals in the photography field — are returning to the historic city of Braga in September 2024. This Award offers a chance to meet with recognized commissioners, gallerists, curators and publishers, to present your portfolio, promote your work and receive valuable feedback and advice.
The 32 selected photographers receive 8 individual review appointments, lasting 20 minutes each (10+10 minutes), and have the opportunity to influence who they meet with ahead of the reviews.
The jury will be looking for the best contemporary photographic works, and will award the 1st place winner a prize of 3000€ and 2 Honorable mentions with 1.000€ each. The winner will have a solo exhibition on the edition of 2025, as well.

The EMERGENTES 2024 - International Photography Award Encontros da Imagem, consists of 3.000€ monetary award and a solo exhibition in the next edition of the festival in 2025; plus, two Honorable Mentions of 1.000€ each and a projection of the total series.
The winner will have the project published on KATALOG magazine.
Eligibility:
All artists that use photography as an expression tool, regardless of the age, gender or nationality.
Copyrights & Usage Rights:
The images that are part of the selected work, can be used by the festival in order to promote exhibitions and activities in it. The works selected and produced for the 2024 edition of the festival will become part of the festival and archive at the end of this edition;
In future, the festival may use the produced images for exhibitions (individual or collective), within the festival or in partnership with similar institutions. This will always be communicated to the authors beforehand. Whenever possible, and on a case-by-case basis, the festival will try to ensure that the artist receives a fee for their participation in these exhibitions. Authors take full responsibility for the authorship of the images/work presented.
