Human-bear coexsistence through your photographic lense.

FINDING BEARINGS is a photo contest organized within LIFE DINALP BEAR project, an international nature conservation project working on improving human-bear coexistence. Life with bears includes a wide range of challanges and opportunities. We would love to see your creative visions on this topic. We invite all amateur and professional photographers to help us present their visions on what it means to live with bears. We are looking for images of bears in their natural habitat, as well as all other photographs that tell the story of successful conservation and coexistence with this carismatic large carnivore.


1st prize: Discover Dinarics 3-day promotion excursion (Slovenia) in September 2017 + bear friendly products package valued 50 €
2nd prize: bear friendly products package valued 100 €
3rd prize: bear friendly products package valued 50 €
Public voting winner: bear friendly products package valued 50 €.

Submitted photographs will be on display in the online gallery during the contest. You will be able to vote for your favourit image. Based on votes, the winner of the public will be selected.

In addition to this 4 winning photos, there will be 30 other images selected by the jury. These images will be part of a travelling exhebition that will be showcased in Slovenia, Croatia and Austria. Authors of these images will recieve project fleece jackets and hats (beanies).


FINDING BEARINGS photo contest is open to all photographers around the world.

Copyrights & Usage Rights:

By submitting the participation agreement, entrants ensure the contest organizer that they are the authors and copy right owners of submitted photos, and that there are no rights claimed by third parties in those photos.

Authors retain ownership and all other rights to future use of the photographs they enter, except for the following: Your entry to the contest constitutes of your agreement to allow your entered photographs— and your name, city, country of residence and photo information — to be published for
the needs of FINDING BEARINGS contest and photo exhibition organization.

LIFE DINALP BEAR project encourages the photographers to choose to donate their images for the exclusive non-profit project use (webpage, Facebook, publications...). If you wish to donate image(s), please check the appropriate box in your participation agreement. Donating your photos is not in any way required nor it will affect the jury choice.
