“Month of May” 2017

This contest presents a particular challenge in that all entry photos must be taken between 1 May 2017 and 31 May 2017 inclusive, anywhere in the world. The theme is "Month of May" which is open to interpretation but we would particularly like to see images celebrating late spring and the coming of summer in terms of wildlife, birdlife, butterflies, flowers, trees and other natural history, public celebrations (May Queens, maypole dancing, floral parades and street celebrations) as well as landscape, seascape and sunrise/sunset photography.
The top ten entries will all be printed, mounted, framed and displayed at the Alverton Gallery, Penzance, UK and there are cash prizes for first, second and third place.
Prizes:
£75 cash prize for the winning entry, £50 for the runner up and £25 for third place, plus all of the top ten entries will have their image displayed at a leading high street Cornwall gallery, and via its website and social media.

Amateur or professional over 18.
Copyrights & Usage Rights:
All photos submitted must be the original work of the entrant who must be the copyright holder. The entrant is responsible for ensuring that all permissions and releases have been obtained in respect of all images submitted. On this basis the entrant will at all times retain copyright to his/her work.
By submitting to our competition an entrant acknowledges that, should an image be awarded a place in our top ten winners' list, the entrant grants us the right to use the image by way of a physical print for exhibition at the Alverton Gallery, Penzance, UK, and by way of digital imagery for display on the Alverton Gallery's website and social media. Should a physical print be sold by the Alverton Gallery the photographer will be paid 20% of the gallery price. At all times the entrant will be credited as the photographer and copyright holder.
