Red Bull Illume is the world’s greatest international photography contest dedicated to action and adventure sports. It showcases the most creative and captivating photography on the planet as art and aims to bring the public closer to the world of action sports.
Red Bull Illume Image Quest 2016 will be the fourth edition of the contest after 2007, 2010 and 2013. New for 2016 is the addition of a mobile category. A judging panel of 50 photo editors goes through thousands of entries and eventually selects 11 Category Winners and one Overall Winner, unveiled at the Red Bull Illume Winner Award Ceremony in the autumn of 2016. All finalist images then travel across the world as part of a unique nighttime photo exhibition.
Only images that capture the action and adventure sport culture and lifestyle may be submitted. Whether they take place in the air, sea, mountains, cities or on rivers and trails, a broad range of adventure sport submissions are accepted. Excluded, however, are traditional team sports and motor sports, such as formula one, stock and sport car racing and MotoGP. The decision to accept and judge will be at the discretion of Red Bull Illume judges. The Red Bull Illume judges' decision is final.
Prizes:
verall and category winners will receive a selection of outstanding prizes from reputable photography brands.
The Overall Winner will walk away with a Yodobashi voucher to the value of €40,000, which can be redeemed for any number of the company’s massive selection of consumer goods.
Electronics giant Sony will award the various winners with photography gear worth over €60,000. The prizes will include cameras such as the Sony ILCE-A7RII (Overall Winner) or the Sony DSC-RX1RII, along with a variety of accessories and lenses. The overall winner will also receive a Vario-Tessar T* FE 16-35mm F4 ZA OSS, a Vario-Tessar T* FE 24-70mm F4 ZA OSS and an FE 70-200mm F4 G OSS
Photo bag manufacturer tamrac will induct the Overall Winner into their Pro Team as well as provide $1500 in store credit. All other winners will receive a tamrac Anvil 23 as well as Arc and Goblin accessory bundles.
External storage brand G-Technology will provide the Overall Winner with their top of the line G-Drive ev RaW SSD and All Terrain case. Other winners will receive a G-Drive ev RaW and the Public Choice Winner, which will be announced mid 2018, will walk away with a G-Drive ev ATC with Thunderbolt.
Lighting experts broncolor will provide the various winners with a Siro kit, while the Overall Winner will walk away with a Para 88 system.

All images submitted for consideration in the Red Bull Illume Image Quest 2016 contest remain the sole property of the photographer. Entrants retain copyright over each of their images.
Entrants grant Red Bull GmbH and its affiliates, subsidiaries and partners the right to use the submitted photos without compensation in the context of Red Bull Illume, the Red Bull Illume contests, the Red Bull Illume Tours or for Red Bull Illume promotions, marketing, advertising, events and exhibitions. Notwithstanding the aforesaid this includes - without a restriction in time - the worldwide use of the submitted photos in any media, in particular any print-media (e.g. magazines, newspapers, books) and electronic/digital offline and online media (e.g. on Red Bull Illume or associated websites or social internet platforms and networks). To protect the copyright of the photographer, the Red Bull GmbH will use the submitted photos only in low resolution whenever this is reasonable and technically possible (e.g. on the internet). Credits will be given according to the customary practice in the media business.
