The Muhammad Ali Center announces the 2016 Third Annual “Shining a Light” International Photo Contest.

The goal of this year’s competition is to showcase individuals and organizations working toward the “Right to Education” for all children worldwide. In addition, the contest hosts will produce a documentary-style exhibition from 20 to 30 finalist photographs that will be exhibited at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky beginning March 2016.

CONTEST THEME

“Shining a Light: The Right to Education”

Informed by the United Nations Girls Education Initiative (http://www.ungei.org/), the photographic submissions are asked to depict individuals or organizations engaging in one or more of the following:

1. Improving the quality and availability of girls’ education
2. Removing barriers to learning
3. Empowering girls through education to realize their full potential
4. Reduction/elimination of school-related gender-based violence
5. An increased number of girls transitioning to secondary education and accessing post-primary opportunities

Prizes:

A donation will be made by the contest hosts to the non-profit or non-governmental organization of choice of the first, second and third place winners. All donations will be made in the form of a check and mailed exclusively to the physical address of the non-profit or non-governmental organization. Prizes are in the following amounts:

1st Prize—$1000

2nd Prize—$750

3rd Prize—$500

By submitting one or more photographs and participating in the “Shining A Light” photo contest, you agree to the following rules and the legal conditions:

All photographers are welcome, both amateur and professional.
Photographers under the age of 18 are required to submit Parental Consent Form with their submission.
You agree to your picture(s) and name being displayed by the Muhammad Ali Center, published and/or used on websites/webpages owned by the Muhammad Ali Center and Generation Ali for an indefinite period of time.
You agree to your picture(s) and name being displayed at other venues for an indefinite period of time.
Participants retain ownership and all other rights to future use of their photographs, notwithstanding the rights granted above to the Muhammad Ali Center and other exhibition venues.
The Muhammad Ali Center has the right to verify, at their sole judgment and discretion, winner eligibility.
Participants warrant that their photographs:
are original,
are not more than three years old,
have never been published in print or on the web,
do not infringe on any third party’s rights,
have obtained any and all necessary permissions from any third party that appears in the photograph.
The Muhammad Ali Center reserves the right, at its own discretion and judgment, to disqualify any entry if it finds in its sole discretion that any of the conditions above are not met.
All decisions by the Muhammad Ali Center and its judges concerning the photo contest are final and binding.
