Talent Latent

Theme of projects: CITIES

SCAN, the international photography festival organised by Tarragona City Council, has opened the call for entries for Talent Latent, aimed at creators from all over the world who use photography as an essential and preferred means of expression. The projects and artists selected from this call will form part of the Talent Latent Exhibition. It will be held at Tinglado 2 at the Port of Tarragona, from 18 October to 8 December 2024.

Theme of projects: CITIES

Experts predict that by the end of the 21st century, two-thirds of the world’s population will live in large cities and metropolises. The SCAN festival invites artists who use photography as a tool or means of expression to explore the consequences of urban population growth and large cities. The works can examine the issue from a broad variety of perspectives: social, historical, cultural, personal, media, urban planning, ecological, religious, etc.

What kind of project can be presented?
Photographic series. Projects and series in which photography is interwoven with other creative languages will be accepted.

The jury and selection process
Érika Goyarrola, independent curator and Doctor of Humanities, will select the projects and artists that will take part in the Talent Latent exhibition.

Apart from the aesthetic criteria, the conceptual integrity of the project, the level of knowledge the author demonstrates on the subject, and the author’s willingness to reflect critically will be evaluated.

For each photographic series exhibited at Talent Latent its author (or a single person responsible for the group in the case of a collective creation), will receive a single payment of €400, taxes included, in terms of copyright and exhibition communication.

Artists must submit an invoice including the details provided by SCAN so the Tarragona City Council can make payment. Invoicing procedures must be carried out in accordance with the regulations to which the local authorities are subject.

Copyrights & Usage Rights:
