THEME | THE ABSTRACT IMAGE
‘An abstract photograph draws away from that which is realistic or literal. It draws away from natural appearances and recognizable subjects in the actual world. Some people even say it departs from true meaning, existence, and reality itself. It stands apart from the concrete whole with its purpose instead depending on conceptual meaning and intrinsic form.' Praxis Gallery seeks the submission of photographic works that explore the world through an abstracted lens; utilizing elements of light, shadow, texture, shape and line to express meaning outside of traditional representational and documentary styles of photography. All genres, capture types, black & white and color, traditional and non-traditional photographic and digital post-production processes are welcome for submission.

JUROR | ELIZABETH FLINSCH
Elizabeth Flinsch is the editor of SHOTS Magazine, an independent magazine of black and white photography. She is also an educator, artist, and frequent collaborator with Douglas Beasley at Vision Quest Photography. With a background in printmaking and former Education Director at Highpoint Center for Printmaking, she has a deep affinity for alternative photographic processes.

ACCEPTANCE | AWARDS
Thirty images will be selected by the juror for exhibition at Praxis Gallery. A Juror’s Choice and two Honorable Mentions will be awarded by the juror and featured in the exhibition, the printed show catalog and the online show gallery. Award winners will receive a free show catalog. The Directors Choice Award will be given to the artist with the strongest series of images submitted and will have their work featured at praxisgallery.com.

ENTRY FEE | $35.00
The submission fee for entry is $35.00 for the first five images and $5.00 for each additional image. Payment is accepted by Credit / Debit Card through our secure online submission site.

USE RIGHTS
Artist retains all copyrights to their own images. The artist's name and photo title will be included wherever the photographs are displayed. Artists whose photographs are accepted for exhibition grant Praxis Gallery the nonexclusive right to use submitted photographs for exhibition purposes and for the purpose of marketing the exhibition, marketing related programs and subsequent display on Praxis Gallery's website.
