The Alexia Foundation offers a Student Alexia Grant to enable current college student photographers to produce substantial bodies of work that share the Foundation’s goals of promoting world peace and cultural understanding. Work that helps bring about change is more valued.

Student applicants are encouraged to consider proposing projects close to where you are. Our experience is that you’re more likely to produce a successful body of work if you can easily access the setting where you’ll produce the work. Most student grant recipients had already started working on the project for which they received an Alexia grant.

The first place grant recipient receives a semester-long fellowship that pays tuition for three courses at Syracuse University. The recipient is also the graduate research assistant for The Alexia Chair at The Newhouse School during the semester.

Prizes:

The primary student grant – first place – goes to one person. We will also recognize two additional finalists. Grants vary between undergraduate and graduate students.

First Place Award if Recipient is an Undergraduate Student:
• This award pays tuition for three under graduate courses and program fees during a semester at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
