The Andrei Stenin International Press Photo contest was established on December 22, 2014. Russia’s largest international contest for young photographers is named in honor of Rossiya Segodnya photojournalist Andrei Stenin, who died in eastern Ukraine while on assignment. The contest is run by Rossiya Segodnya under the auspices of the Russian Federation Commission for UNESCO.

Applications can now be submitted to the stenincontest.com website through March 22, 2017. Photographers of 18 to 33 years of age qualify to take part.

The Andrei Stenin International Photo Contest aims to promote young photographers and attract public attention to photojournalism and its mission. It is Russia’s only platform to discover new photojournalists and develop high standards for documentary photography in Russia and the world.

In 2016, about 6000 entries by young photojournalists from 71 countries, including Russia, have been submitted to the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest. The contest covers five continents, stretching from Europe and North and South America to Africa, Australia, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Russian participants are drawn from all corners of the country – from Kaliningrad, Moscow and St. Petersburg to Vladivostok and Yalta.

The Award Ceremony took place in Moscow and the winning entries were exhibited around the world – Moscow, Istanbul, Cape Town, Cairo, Berlin, Shanghai, Rome and etc.
The jury comprises leading figures from both Russian and international photo community, including Denis Paquin, Associated Press’ deputy director of photography; Zheng Wei, vice director of the Photographic News Department of China’s Xinhua News Agency; Aldo Mendichi, an Italian photographer and organizer of educational courses and seminars; Irina Chmyreva, Russian fine arts expert; Senior Researcher, Institute of Theory and History of Art at the Russian Academy of Arts; Xenia Nikolskaya Russian-swedish photographer, Curator of international exhibition projects; Yury Kozyrev, Russian photojournalist, jury member and multiple winner of the World Press Photo Awards; Valery Melnikov, Rossiya Segodnya’s photojournalist, multiple international awards winner.

Prizes:

- The Grand Prize winner will receive RUB 500,000(five hundred thousand).
- The first place winner in each category for an individual Photo Image or a Series of Photo Images will receive RUB 50,000 (fifty thousand).
- The second place winner in each category for an individual Photo Image or a Series of Photo Images will receive RUB 35,000 (thirty five thousand).
- The third place winner in each category for an individual Photo Image or a Series of Photo Images will receive RUB 25,000 (twenty five thousand).

Contest sponsors may also offer additional prizes.

Eligibility:

Photo Contest is open to participants aged 18 to 33 from all over the world.

Copyrights & Usage Rights:

For the purposes of this Contest, the Contest Participants grant the Organizer the right to use the Photo Images submitted to the Contest.
