The Guardian – Readers’ travel photography competition 2016

Open to residents of the UK.

Guardian Travel’s monthly readers’ photography competition is an opportunity for you to share your journeys around the world, and for us to showcase your work online and – at the end of the year – in an exhibition at Guardian HQ.

The winner of each month’s competition (who must be a UK resident) will see their shot mounted and displayed in the end-of-year public exhibition at the Guardian’s offices in London. Once the exhibition is finished digital printers Point 101 will send you a copy of your shot to place on your own wall.

The overall winner (chosen from the 12 monthly winners) will go on an amazing seven-night ‘Secret Fjords’ self-drive holiday to Iceland for two with Discover the World. The trip includes two direct economy-class flights from London Gatwick to Egilsstadir; comfortable accommodation for two people sharing on a bed and breakfast basis; car rental for the agreed period on an unlimited mileage basis (includes semi-comprehensive insurance and no charge for additional driver); airport transfers to and from Egilsstadir if applicable; and an annual insurance4carhire policy (for EU residents only).


The Monthly Winners will each have their picture mounted and displayed in December 2016 or January 2017 (or at a later date in GNM’s discretion) in the Kings Place gallery.

The Overall Winner for 2016 will win a seven-night ‘Secret Fjords’ self-drive holiday in Iceland for two people with Discover the World Limited.


Entrants must be resident in the UK from the time they submit their entry into the Competition to the time they are selected as a winner (as a Monthly Winner and/or as the Overall Winner, both as defined in paragraphs 15 and 18 below). The Competition is open to all photographers (both amateur and professional).

Copyrights & Usage Rights:

By submitting an entry to the Competition, You grant GNM:

a. Permission for your entry to be published on GNM websites including but not limited to and and on any social media account controlled by GNM, including but not limited to Facebook and Twitter accounts, and you grant GNM a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual licence (with a right to sub-license) to use, republish, edit and/or modify your Competition entry in any/all media (including in electronic format, hard copy and in GNM publications) for purposes connected with the Competition and as described in these Terms and Conditions (including as described in paragraph 19); and

b. The right to use your name and county of residence for the sole purpose of identifying you as the author of your entry and/or as a winner of the Competition.
