Thanks to our hugely supportive sponsors there are some fantastic prizes to be won, but TPOTY is also about more than prizes. This prestigious award offers massive exposure for your work through our media activities, books, photographer profiles and exhibitions.
TPOTY-winning photographers have had their work showcased around the world: established photographic careers received a huge boost, new careers were kick-started, and people who never thought they’d see their photographs in print have had a happy surprise!
Prizes:
Overall winner & the Travel Photographer of the Year 2021 – This is the big one! The Travel Photographer of the Year 2021 will be the photographer who submits the best eight images across the portfolio categories. The Overall Winner will receive a cash prize plus a Fujifilm X-T4 camera and lens, a LEE Filters LEE85 Discovery Kit, a personalised Plastic Sandwich leather portfolio book, membership of the Royal Photographic Society and JRNY travel magazine – and the international exposure that goes with winning TPOTY.
Young Travel Photographer of the Year 2021 – For photographers aged 18 and under, this year’s theme is ‘My Travels’. Awards will be given in the 14 &Under and 15-18 age groups, and an overall winner. Prizes include £500, a personalised Plastic Sandwich leather portfolio book, a place on a Photo Iconic photography workshop, Royal Photographic Society membership and JRNY travel magazine.
Best 8 – Give us eight incredible and diverse travel images, a real variety of subjects and locations, which showcase your skills as a photographer and your vision of our world. The category winner receives a Fujifilm X-T4 camera and lens plus membership of the Royal Photographic Society and JRNY travel magazine. The recipient of the Best Single Image award receives a Genesis Imaging giclée exhibition print.
Eligibility:
Entry is open to anyone except those directly involved in the running of the competition judging. Any photographer, amateur and professional, aged 19 years and over, from any country, can enter the Portfolio categories, and the video category, and anyone of any age can enter the four Single Image ‘One Shot’ categories and the Smart Shot category. Young Travel Photographer of the Year is for photographers aged 18 years and under. There are two age categories – aged 14 years and under, aged 15 to 18 years.
Copyrights & Usage Rights:
The entrant must be the sole author and owner of the copyright of all images entered. It is the legal responsibility of the entrant, and not the organisers, to ensure that they comply with these ownership and copyright requirements, and own the rights to reproduction of their images. Entries that do not fulfil these criteria will be deemed ineligible and disqualified. Where this is discovered after the prize has been awarded, the prize must be returned or refunded by the entrant. Entrants agree to fully indemnify Travel Photographer of the Year Ltd and its sponsors and employees in respect of all royalties, fees and any other monies owing to any person by reason of the entrant breaching any of the foregoing.
