International Garden Photographer of the Year is the world’s premier competition and exhibition specialising in garden, plant, flower and botanical photography. International Garden Photographer of the Year is wholly owned and organised by Garden World Images Ltd.
It is run in association with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, United Kingdom. The main exhibition is held annually at Kew, with a rolling programme of touring exhibitions in the UK and all over the world. Exhibitions are linked to events such as workshops and lectures on garden photography.
The competition closes on 31st October every year. Winners are announced at the opening of the Kew exhibition, the following March. The following year’s competition is launched at the Kew exhibition.
In addition, there are seasonal categories with results announced two times a year (‘Photo Projects’).
A book of the exhibition is normally produced each year.

Eligibility:
The competition is open to everyone, amateurs and professionals alike. Entries are welcome from any country in the world. There are no restrictions on the type of camera you use, or the techniques you use to produce your final image.
Copyrights & Usage Rights:
If your image is short-listed you will be contacted and invited to grant permission for your image to be used to promote the Competition and exhibition only. For avoidance of doubt, no free usage of any photograph is permitted by International Garden Photographer of the Year, or any of its partners or sponsors outside the scope of the International Garden Photographer of the Year competition and exhibition. There is no plan envisaged by International Garden Photographer of the Year, or any of its partners or sponsors, to create a general commercial archive of photographs entered into this competition.
You grant International Garden Photographer of the Year and its supporting partners a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to reproduce, enlarge, publish or exhibit, on any media, the photographs for any purpose connected with the Competition. This may include, but is not limited to:
(a) inclusion on the Site and on the websites of sponsors and supporters;
(b) inclusion in associated books;
(c) display at any associated exhibitions;
(d) use in press releases to be distributed to national, regional & specialist press giving information about or promoting the Competition.
